Areas of the Fiesta

Children’s Village — The Fiesta del Sol-San Diego will provide the opportunity for you to promote, recruit, and enroll children for your child development centers and/or schools. In exchange for a $25.00 suggested donation opportunity that includes an 8ft table and two chairs, we ask that you provide an arts and craft activity at no cost for children that attend the children’s area. Features hands on activities for children such as: arts and crafts, interactive games, and face painting.

Education at Fiesta del Sol Provides space for college recruiters, adult education, technical schools, and alternative education groups to provide information and conduct on-site interviews. Area also responsible for reviewing and choosing the 2008 and 2009 Roger Cázares Scholarship Winners.

This scholarship is named in honor of a well-respected, long-time community leader, Roger Cázares, admired for his dedication to improving the lives of people in underserved communities. As an example, his vision and leadership led to the development of the MAAC Project Community Charter School as well as the Mercado Apartments in Barrio Logan, offering quality housing to low-income families.

Community Taking Action —As part of the national Reform Immigration for America Campaign, the focus of the Community Taking Action Pavilion will be on engaging, educating, organizing and taking action to strengthen the national effort to push Congress and our President to support workable comprehensive immigration reform. Our vision of reform includes immigrants and native-born U.S. citizens working shoulder to shoulder to create opportunities for our families to not live in fear, to have a path to legalization and citizenship, to achieve better wages, working conditions, and labor protections for all workers and to pursue our dreams of education and to continue to contribute to the building of America.

That’s our vision for a stronger America!!! Come by, get involved and Take Action!

Investing in Our Future — Educates patrons about financial and economic programs and issues.  Includes first time home buyer workshops, financial literacy information, bank programs, entrepreneurial training, and numerous other features available to enhance the community.
