About Fiesta del Sol
Our 3rd Annual Fiesta del Sol is a FREE two-day street festival celebrating the history, diverse cultures, and engagement of the people of San Diego. It is a fun, FAMILY-FRIENDLY, alcohol and tobacco free event focused on creating positive change by empowering our communities. Given the success of our previous two years, the 2008 Fiesta del Sol promises to be even better!

Six (6) city blocks
60,000 in attendance over 2 days
$21,000 in Scholarships awarded
31 local and international recording artists performed
on both Fiesta stages
Seven (7) Themed pavilions focused on:
Health, Education, Children's, Civic Participation, Teens,
Financial Literacy, and Arts and Culture
Over 250 unpaid volunteers worked at the Fiesta del Sol
Over 100 Food, Non Profit, and Business Booths
Civil rights icon Dolores Huerta was the Keynote speaker



Fiesta del Sol in Chicago
Fiesta del Sol-San Diego is modeled after the Fiesta del Sol in Chicago, which has been organized by JOB’s sister organization, the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, for thirty-five years. The Chicago Fiesta del Sol draws over one million people, and is recognized as one of the four largest Latino street festivals in the United States. www.fiestadelsol.org |
